A Professional At Making Excuses

Welcome to my second blog post!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Lunar New Year with friends and family!! :)
As we all went back to school this week on Thursday I've been trying to get used to taking classes and doing work again. It was pretty difficult to get used to waking up early and coming to school. This week especially, as I was working on my project and other class assignments, I’ve learned how difficult it is to create new habits.
Before starting this project, I was actually very "new" to exercising or working out several times in a week. I had previously been in sports teams like cross country (long-distance running) and volleyball, so I thought that working out several times a week would be pretty easy. However, I was very very wrong. Because working out was not something I was used to doing regularly after quitting the sports that I had been doing, it was very difficult to start again. Apart from the fact that I struggled with starting to workout again, I learned something new about myself this week: I'm very good at making excuses for myself in order to get out of doing things that I need to do.
This week to be honest, was a disappointing week for me because I was barely able to workout at all. I actually got sick from Monday to Wednesday so I had to stay home and try to get better as quickly as I could. Then on Thursday and Friday, due to assignments, essays, and projects, I told myself that I was too busy to go workout. After I started telling myself these excuses, it was already the weekend.
After many years of trying, I finally got into the habit of doing homework and studying right after school. But taking on a new challenge of trying to make myself physically healthier to prepare for college, has been really difficult. I realized that studying habits and exercising habits (or should I say forcing myself to leave my house to go to the gym) are two completely different things. So as a result of my excuse-filled week, I was only able to work out once this week... and on Sunday too.
In order to prevent this from happening again, I've decided to change my plans and times for exercising so that I can make more specific goals. Previously, my plans were to go exercise after eating dinner with my family. But that has not been working, so instead of going after dinner, I will go right after school between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow is the start of a new week. I hope that I will be able to see better results starting from next week! And it is more important to learn from the mistakes that we make in life than to give up right from the start, right? :)
Oh, this is the workout I did on Sunday:
1. Treadmill (30 minutes)
2. Leg Press Machine (20 reps, 2 sets)
3. Stretching (5~10 minutes)
4. Plank (30 seconds)
I hope everyone has a good rest of the day!! I will upload again next week (next week will include cooking as well)!
